Wedding Announcement
The News (Frederick, MD) April 3, 1912
Not even telling their closest friends of their plans, Miss Nina Mobley, daughter of Mrs. Howard Mobley, this city, and Mr. Charles Fisher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Fisher, went to Middletown and were quietly married there on Monday by Rev. J. W. Gentzler, pastor of the Lutheran church of that place.

After the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Fisher returned to their homes in this city and took no one into their confidence and the fact they were married was not known by the parents of the young couple.

Yesterday the groom confided to a friend he had been married, and later the news became known to a number of friends of the young couple. It is understood that parents of Mr. Fisher objected greatly to the wedding, on account of the youth of their son.

The license for the marriage was secured in Hagerstown. When word of the marriage was first heard, the license book here was examined, and because of the fact no license had been issued the couple, it was thought they had not been married. Later it was found the facts were as given above.

Mr. Fisher is one of the most popular young men of the city. He is a member of the Y.M.C.A., and has always taken a most active part in Y.M.C.A. athletics, and is regarded as one of the best all round athletes in Frederick. He was a member of the Diamond Basketball team, and his ability in this line contributed in no small degree to the success of the team. The bride is a well known young lady of Frederick and quite popular. She formerly resided near Park Mills.

When the news of the wedding became known last evening, the young couple admitted to their parents they had been married. Mr. and Mrs. Fisher left last evening for a short visit to Martinsburg and other places and will probably be gone several weeks. They will make their residence in this city.
