George Brownmiller was the son of Frederick and Barbara (Nolf) Brownmiller, born
near Bath, Northampton County, April 1, 1804, and died in Berks County, Feb. 24,
1896.

About 1840 his parents moved to Delaware, Ohio. They remained there for the rest
of their lives. Both are interred in Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware.

He was the great-grandson of emigrant Johannes Braumüller, who was born in
Langenselbold, Germany in 1711. Johannes was the son of Johann Heinrich
Braumüller and Anna Maria Faust.

For many years he was a school teacher at Drehersville, Schuylkill County. He
was at the same time trained as stone mason and shoemaker, but by mid-life was
primarily a tombstone cutter and singing master

As a popular and talented musician and vocalist, he conducted singing schools in
upper Berks County, notably St. Paul's (Smoke) Church, in Windsor Township, and
at Dunkel's Church, in Greenwich Township. He lived and conducted classes at
Bern Church for many years as well.

He married Anna Foose, born April 8, 1808, died January 4, 1883, daughter of
Elias and Elizabeth (Yeiser) Foose.
