GRAFTON - Raymond A. White, 73, of 8A Zgonis Drive, South Grafton, formerly of Northbridge, a retired troubleshooter and restaurant manager, died yesterday in St. Camillus Nursing Home, Whitinsville, after a long illness.

His wife of 17 years, Marjorie A. (Couch) White, died in 1982. He leaves three sons, Armand O. White of Millbury, Steven R. White of South Grafton and Kevin P. White of Evansville, Ind.; a daughter, Linda L. Jacobson of Evansville; four stepdaughters, Joyce E. Maffett of Toronto, Ohio, Sherry A. Belanger of Whitinsville, Susan K. Latimore of Uxbridge and Cindy L. Lussier of Northbridge; two brothers, George White of Danielson, Conn., and Leonard White of Whitinsville; three sisters, Beatrice Jones of North Grafton, Vera Pease of Worcester and Florence Knapik of Uxbridge; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Northbridge, and lived there for 58 years before moving to South Grafton in 1981. He attended Northbridge High School, and graduated from the New Haven (Conn.) Culinary Arts School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Signal Corps.

Mr. White was a retired troubleshooter and restaurant manager for John F. Davis Co. of Scranton, Pa., overseeing 42 restaurants across the country. He was with the company for seven years, retiring due to an injury in 1970. He previously was a chef at the Olde Oyster Cabin Restaurant in Uxbridge, at the Town Line Club in Millbury and at Messier's Diner in Worcester.

He was a member of St. James Church and the Green Acres Tenants Association, both in South Grafton, and the Oliver Ashton Post American Legion in Northbridge.

The funeral will be held Monday from Turgeon Funeral Home, 80 School St., Northbridge, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, 89 Main St., South Grafton. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, South Grafton. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
