HOLTON -- Loyd D. Stone, 74, Holton, died Friday, June 25, 1999, at home.

He was born March 17, 1927, in Boone, Iowa, to Oren and Lena Hickman Stone, and he spent most of his life in the Holton community. He was employed at the Topeka Goodyear Plant 15 years.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Germany. He was a member of First Christian Church in Holton and Local No. 307 of United Rubber Workers. He had been active in the prison ministry in Leavenworth.

He married Virginia Faye Zirger May 8, 1954, in Holton. She died April 16, 1999.

Survivors include a son, Duane Stone, Topeka; a daughter, Debra Stone, Olathe; a brother, George W. Stone, Lee's Summit, Mo.; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.

Burial will be in Holton Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Loyd D. Stone Memorial Fund, yet to be designated, and sent in care of the funeral home.
