AUSTELL, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Wellstar Community Hospice/Tranquility, Marietta, GA. Mrs. Laura Mae Beasley Gordon, daughter of Deacon Leroy Beasley and the late Alice Beasley of Augusta, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 2:30 P.M. from Miles Memorial CME Church, 2114 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Augusta, GA with Reverend Willie James, officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Watkins Street, Augusta, GA. Laura attended Ursula Collins Elementary and graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School, "Class of 1958". She continued her education at Paine College and Morris College in South Carolina. Laura was employed with the Richmond County Sheriff's Department and retired from the Department of Family and Children Services. She is survived by two daughters, Indira Tucker Boult and Tarji Tucker Cameron; six grandchildren, Darius and Cameron Tucker, Nekkita Boult, Brandon, Brittnae and Brian Cameron; two great grandchildren, Khavel and Khalil Tucker; father, Leroy H. Beasley and stepmother, Betty Beasley; brother, George Lewis (Kathleen) Beasley; a dear friend, Augustus Homer; a loving cousin, Ms. Elaine Harris Butler; and several aunts, one uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
