William Edwin Bird

Age 86, formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away on July 17, 2009.

Born in Baltimore, MD, Mr. Bird, known as Bill, grew up and later settled in Wilmington. He graduated from the University of Delaware and received his MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of WWII after serving in the 94th Division of the 301st Army Infantry in Europe. Later, he retired as an accountant for Gulf Oil Corp. He attended the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Wilmington.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Louise Bird and daughter Linda Bird Randolph. Mr. Bird is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Decker, son-in-law, Paul Randolph and step-children, Jeffery and Robert Blauvelt and Gail Amorosa, and 7 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 10 am at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.
