MOUNT SAVAGE — Mary Elizabeth Kirby, 77, of Mount Savage, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at her home.
Born March 15, 1932, in Mount Savage, Mrs. Kirby was the daughter of the late Michael Miller and Bertha Minola (Witt) Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles "Duney" William Kirby, on Sept. 17, 2007; and three brothers, John "Husky" Miller, Charles "Chis" Miller, and Mike Miller.
Retired from Pitt-Co Federal Credit Union, Mary was a member of the Mount Savage United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheree Emerick and her husband Rick, and Lisa Winebrenner and her husband Bryan, all of Mount Savage; her sisters, Evelyn Guderjohn, of Littleton, Colo., and JoAnn Carns and her husband Don, of Cumberland; her grandchildren, Shelley Howard and her husband Jay, Misty Emerick, and Kirby Winebrenner, all of Mount Savage; as well as her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Gabriel, and Nathan Howard, and Zain Bobo; and several nieces and nephews whom affectionately referred to her as Aunt Mary and/or Aunt Mamie.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com on Monday, July 6, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Mount Savage United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Hal Atkins officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
The family extends their thanks to WMHS-Home Hospice and WMHS-Home Medical.
