Lloyd Hamby, 85, of Christiansburg, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009. He was born May 15, 1925, to the late William and Minnie Hamby. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three sisters. He was a retired Gunnery Sergeant for the United States Marine Corp. having served in Cuba, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He was also retired Store Manager from Sears & Roebuck Company. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jessie Ferrell Hamby, of Christiansburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Marsha Hamby, of Radford, and Mike and Robin Hamby, of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren, Mark, Jessica, Robert "Robbie", Kim, and Heather; and two greatgrandchildren; brother, Robert "Bob" Hamby, of Elizabethton, Tenn.; two sisters, Marie Bunton, of Elizabethton, Tenn., Maxine Woods, of Bristol; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday July 21, 2009, at Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Pastor Tina Cox officiating. Graveside Military Rights will be conducted at Monte Vista Memorial Gardens in Johnson City, Tenn. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at 2 p.m.
