Mrs. Annie Ayers Dies at Home of Brother in Nichols

Nichols, Ia., Nov. 27.—Mrs. Annie Ayers, who had made her home here with her brother, William Meyers, for a score of years, died at 5 a.m. today. She was born Annie Myers, and was 66 years of age. She lived in childhood near Adams station.

Surviving relatives are these children: Mrs. Nick French, Wapello; Mrs. Will Marine, West Liberty; Mrs. David Marine, Nichols; sisters, Mrs. Charles Chapman, Creston, Iowa; Mrs. Kate Smith, West Liberty; brothers, Gus and William Myers, Nichols.

Interment will be in the Nichols cemetery, the funeral arrangements to be made later.


The funeral of Mrs. Anna Ayers will be held from the home Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. W. G. Barr will have charge of the services.

Nichols, Ia., Dec. 1.—The funeral of Mrs. Anna Ayers was held Saturday afternoon from the home. Rev. W. G. Barr had charge of the service. Burial was in the Nichols cemetery. The pallbearers were William Smith, John Mills, Harry Smith, Claude Heizer, Lewis Schmitt and Nels Christopherson. [should be Christofferson]

Anna E. Meyers was born July 31st, 1870, at Adams and died at that place November 27th, 1924, at the age of 54 years, 3 months and 26 days. She was united in marriage to Mr. L. D. Ayers in 1897 (whom she divorced in February of 1903).

She is survived by three daughters, three grand children, four brothers and three sisters. The daughters are Mrs. Clara French of Wapello, Mrs. Katie Marine of West Liberty, and Mrs. Helen Marine of Nichols. The grandchildren are Wilma and Glen French and Alvin Marine. The brothers and sisters, Mr. Will Meyers at home, Mr. Gus. Meyers of Adams, Mr. Henry and Fred Meyers of Cedar Valley, Mrs. Kate Smith of West Liberty, Mrs. Mary Chapman of Letts and Mrs. Carrie Cochran of Nichols. One daughter, Gladys Irene, and a granddaughter, Wilna Marine, having died in infancy. She also leaves many friends to mourn her loss.

She spent almost her entire life on the place in which she died.

Funeral services were held from the home Saturday afternoon at 1:30 and interment was made in the Swickard cemetery.

The pallbearers were: Claude Heizer, Harry Smith, Louis Schmitt, Nelson Christofferson, Johnie Mills and William Smith.

We wish to thank our friends, neighbors and relatives for the kindness and sympathy in the death and loss of our mother and sister, Mrs. Anna Ayers. Also we thank those who donated their cars. We especially wish to thank the minister, pallbearers and singers.
