LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Shannon Abney Butler, 43, of 1014 Mt. Water Lane, Lawrenceville, Ga died at her home on Sunday August 31, 2008 after an illness with breast cancer. Mrs. Butler was a devout Christian and a dedicated member of Passion Church of Metro Atlanta in Lawrenceville. She was born in Athens, Ga in 1965 and grew up in Augusta, Ga where she attended elementary and middle school and graduated from West Side High School in 1983. Shannon attended The Art Institute of Atlanta where she graduated in 1986 with a degree in Fashion Design. She later attended and graduated from Gwinnett Technical College in 1990 with a degree in Cosmetology. Mrs. Butler was employed with Michel's Beauty Salon in Suwanee, Ga. She was a gifted artist and continued to paint throughout her adult life. Shannon is preceded in death by her infant twin brother and sister who died in 1966 and her mother, Jackie Dempsey Abney, who passed away in 1975. Mrs. Butler is survived by her husband, Stephen Butler and daughter, Hannah Butler both of Lawrenceville, and her father and step-mother, Tom and Jeanie Abney of Augusta, Ga. Other surviving extended family members include two aunts, one uncle and their respective spouses and six first cousins. The funeral service is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3, 1:00 PM in the chapel. Graveside service followed at the Enigma City Cemetery. Pastor Charlton Groover of Passion Church officiated at both the funeral service in Buford and the graveside service in Enigma. Arrangements by: Junior E.
