: Marvin M. Rodgers, age 88, a longtime resident of Jasper, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the home of his daughter in Crawfordville, Florida. He thoroughly enjoyed one last college football game on Saturday with his son-in-law Dale. Being the Gator fan that he was, Marvin would have wanted it acknowledged that "his" team won, Go Gators!

Marvin was born in Jasper, Florida on April 1, 1927 to the late Charlie and Jettie Cheshire Rodgers. As a young man, Marvin served his country in the United States Air Force. He met and married, Sylvia Nettles and together they started their family. Marvin was hired as Administrator at the Hamilton County Health Department and worked to improve the quality of our community in that capacity for over forty years. He mentored many young people over the years, always with encouraging words and deeds. His kind and gentle spirit will always be remembered. Before moving to Crawfordville, Marvin could be found most any day of the week in the yard with rake in hand or in the garden planning his next crop. He was a faithful member of the Jasper First United Methodist Church. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Nettles Rodgers in 1997 and his daughter, Cheryl Rodgers Daniels in 2008.

Survivors include one son, Marvin "Rod" Rodgers, Jr., of Hudson, FL.; one daughter, Ellen Rodgers Waters and her husband Dale of Crawfordville, FL.; five grandchildren, Christopher Rodgers, Wendy Rodgers, Erica Daniels McCollough, Evan Waters and Jared Waters; eight great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held Thursday at Jasper First United Methodist Church.

Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.

Memorial contributions may be made to Florida Sheriff's Youth Ranches, P.O. Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL. 32064.
