Debra Lynn Harris, age 55, of Marshall, Missouri, passed away suddenly, Tuesday evening, July 14, 2009, at her parents' home in Lincoln, Missouri. She was born on May 23, 1954, in Urbana, Missouri, the daughter of Emmett & Evelyn (Reser) Gardner.

She graduated from Lincoln High School, class of 1972. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri. On May 14, 1977, she and George D. Harris were united in marriage at the Lincoln United Methodist Church by her grandfather, Rev. Stephen A. Gardner. George and Debra made their home in Kansas City, St. Joseph, Hannibal and Lamar, before moving to Marshall in 1994. Debra was currently employed as the Director of Medical Records at the I-70 Medical Center for the past three years, following ten years as a medical transcriptionist at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

She was a member of the Marshall United Methodist Church, the Marshall Community Choir, and had actively participated in Relay for Life the past three years. She enjoyed playing the piano, baking, and loved to read; however, the moments that she shared with her family, especially her new granddaughter, Meribelle, were what she treasured most dearly.

She is survived by her husband George, of the home; two daughters, Amanda Gail Wheeler and her husband Richmond of Columbia, Missouri and Caitlin Elizabeth Harris of Marshall; her new granddaughter, Meribelle Wheeler, of Columbia; her parents, Emmett and Evelyn Gardner of Lincoln; one sister, Pam Reeder, and her husband Tim of Marshall; two nephews, Nathan and Tighe Reeder of Marshall; an honorary sister, Cheri Chockley of Jefferson City; other nieces and nephews in Littleton, Colorado and Ottawa, Kansas; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Debra Lynn Harris will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday at the Lincoln United Methodist Church, with Rev. Darren Rew officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nathan Reeder, Tighe Reeder, Brian Hampton, Tim Reeder, Joe Reser and Roy Wheeler. Memorial contributions may be made to the Relay for Life or Benton County Cancer Society.
