James A. Wallace age 66, died in his room at the River View Hotel. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Ollie Pryse Breeding Wallace, a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Wallace, son James A. Wallace JR., step son, John David Breeding, three brothers, E. Bush Wallace of Cincinnati, C.C. Wallace of Richmond and Dr. T. Wallace of Irvine. He was the son of Andrew and Ellen Tracy Wallace. He was educated in Estill County public schools, Estill Seminary and State College of Lexington. In 1900 he married Hallie Clay Hardwick of Stanton who died in 1902 and in 1908 he married Ollie Pryse Breeding. His father died in 1903 and his mother in 1925. He was proceeded in death by three brothers, H. Gardner in 1920, Dan in 1921 and T.Q in 1923 a sister in 1897. He was the organizer of the Old Farmers Bank when Irvine in 1913 got to growing as a result of the oil boom and location of the L&N shops. He furnished most of the capitol for development, built houses, stores, garages, hotel and warehouses. In 1916, he organized the Oleum Refining Co at Pryse; he and associates sold to the Great Southern Refining Co, now operated by Texas Co. In 1919 he was elected as State Treasurer with Republican Gov Edwin P. Morrow, he sought office in 1927 for State Auditor and lost by a few votes.
