Holly Wendy Baxter 1964 ~ 2009 Holly Wendy Baxter, age 44, died July 15th, 2009 in Manassas, Virginia after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Holly was born December 21st, 1964 in San Francisco, California to David Stewart Weitz and Judy Ann Sutton. Holly always loved her native California, and loved to come home to visit whenever she could. She always stated with pride that she was from NORTHERN California. Holly loved adventure and had a zest for learning. She loved to travel; going on road trips with her family was her favorite activity. She worked as a tour guide in Germany in the 1980s and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro while living in Kenya. She also lived in Tashkent, Madagascar, and Austria. She had a remarkable talent with languages, and was fluent in Russian, German and French. She also picked up pieces of several other languages as well. Holly became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while living in Kenya. She loved the Lord and gave her all in her church callings. She served as the Primary President while living in Vienna, where she was cherished by all the children. She left an indelible impression on them by her love and her example of service to others. Even while she suffered from cancer in her waning months, Holly continued to serve as best she could as a visiting teacher and a Relief Society instructor. Her foremost goal in life was to have a home where the Spirit of God could dwell, and where Christ was always at the center. After her diagnosis with breast cancer, Holly learned that she would not be able to bear more children. This did not end her desire to bring children into her home and raise them in the light of the gospel. She and her husband adopted two boys from Russia in 2004, and then a girl from China in 2007. Holly married Robert Armstrong Baxter on November 25th, 2000 in Nairobi, Kenya. The marriage was solemnized in the Mount Timpanogas Temple. She is survived by her husband Robert, her father David Weitz and his wife Sandra, her mother Judy Sutton, three sons (Alexander, Max and Daniel), daughter Rosemary Edith, her brother Mark Weitz, stepbrother Keith Love, and grandparents Lorraine Sutton and George Sutton. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Bristow Ward of the LDS church in Manassas, Virginia. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
