Charles was married to Bonnie Miller in Union County, TN on March 16, 1919.

"Charles D. Ellison, Sr., of Speedwell, died suddenly Saturday, February 3, at his home.

He was a retired Claiborne County farmer, a member of the Masonic Lodge Number 577 F. & A.M. , LaFollette.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Miller Ellison of Speedwell; two sons, Charles D. Ellison, Jr., of Clarksburg, West Virginia, and William H. Ellison of Nashville; one sister, Myrtle Ellison Smith of Speedwell; four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 5, at Walters Chapel. Burial was at Ellison Cemetery, Speedwell. The ritual of the Masonic Lodge was presented at the close of the Sunday evening service, and members of the lodge were pallbearers at the funeral services."
