Emma Curtis, 95, passed away November 21, 1995 in Hayti.
Born November 17, 1900 in Logan Co., Ark., she is the daughter of the late James Warren and Mary Susan Cotton Lackey.
Curtis was a hard-working homemaker and loved to cook. Her last job was as a cook at Curtis Cafe in Hayti. She also was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church in Hayti.
She was united in marriage to James Ferrell Rich in Logan Co. and to this union was born two daughters. Mr. Rich and a daughter Mary Francis, preceded her in death. She later married J.D. Curtis in Caruthersville and to this union was born three children.
Curtis and a daughter, Helen Lucille, also preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James Warren Lackey and Harvey Dillard Lackey; a sister, Ella Jones and three stepchildren, Juanita, Bud and Less Curtis.
Survivors include three children, Genevieve Pate of Hayti, Marjorie Loreese Saalwaechter of Germantown, Tenn. and J.W Curtis of Jonesville, La.; five stepchildren, Floyd "Bid" Curtis of Heber Springs, Ark., Boyd Curtis of Hayti, Virginia Christian of Portageville, Bernice Soell of St. Louis, Mo. and Ruth Woolery of Wichata, Kan.; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a great great grandchild
Funeral services were held Nov. 24 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hayti, the Bro. Dave Lewelling officiating.
Internment was in the Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville.
