Jimmie Dee Curtis, 87, of Hayti died Thursday, February 22, at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital and his funeral was held Saturday afternoon in the First Baptist Church of Hayti with the Rev. R.L. Robinson officiating. Burial was in Maple Cemetery with H.S. Smith Funeral Home service.
He was born in Humphreys County, Tenn., July 27, 1885, the son of Jackson and Martha Jane Curtis. He was married to Miss Myrtle Pauline Lofton in Tennessee and the family moved to Pemiscot County in 1919. His wife preceded him in death January 17, 199.
In Caruthersville, on January 26, 1930, he was married to Mrs. Emmaline Helen Rich. He was a retired farmer.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Emma H. Curtis of Hayti; five sons, Leslie and Boyd Curtis of Hayti, Bud Curtis of Caruthersville, Floyd Curtis of Niles, Mich., and J.W. Curtis of Jonesville, La.; four daughters, Mrs. Bernice Soells of St. Louis, Mrs. Ruth Woolery of Kennett, Mrs. Virginia Morgan and Mrs. Loreese Saalwoechter of Portageville; a step-daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Pate of Hayti; a sister, Mrs. Ida Hensley of Morley; 21 grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
