Mrs. Ava Etta Sumner, 64, longtime Big Horn basin resident, died early Monday at her ranch home between Lovell and Cowley. She had been suffering from a heart ailment for six months.
She was born June 13, 1898, at Pagost Springs, Colo., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Haynes and married Rudolph M. Sumner in Ft. Collins, Colo., May 24, 1916. She moved to Worland about 45 years ago where she resided until 1946 when she moved to Lovell. She was a member of the Lovell First Baptist church.
Survivors include her husband of Cowley; two daughters, Mrs. Clara J. Busby, Livingston, Mont., Mrs. Mary A. Reynolds, Lovell; three sons, Ira Sumner, Billings, Mont., L. Dean Sumner, Tioga, N.D., and John Sumner, stationed with the US Air Force in Japan; her mother, Mrs. Mary F. Haynes, Evanston, Wyo.; three brothers, Sumner Haynes, Lubbock, Tex., Clarence Haynes, Basin, Wyo., and Ira A. Haynes, Phoenix, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church, Lovell, the Rev. John B. Sheaffer officiating. Funeral time will be announced by Haskell funeral home.
