Dr. Robert Stephen Berger

Funeral Mass for Dr. Robert Stephen Berger, 76, of Notasulga is 10:00a.m. Friday, February 6, 2009 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Father Bill Skoneki is officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens in Notasulga. Visitation is Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home.

Dr. Berger who died Monday, February 2, 2009 at his home was born January 2, 1933 in McLennan County, Texas. He had been a resident of the Auburn/Notasulga area for the past 45 years. He was retired from Auburn University where he served as a Professor of Entomology for 30 years. Dr. Berger was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Auburn where he served as an Usher and member of The Knights of Columbus. He had a passion for farming and raised beef cattle on his farm south of Auburn and later in Notasulga. He attended Texas A&M University and earned his PhD at Cornell University.

Dr. Berger is survived by his wife, Helen Fedorka Berger of Notasulga; daughters, Catherine Anne Berger Roberts of Frisco, TX, Denise Berger (David) Hunter of Keller, TX, Diane Berger of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Emil Thomas Berger of Arlington, TX; sister, Otillie Milliken of Illinois; and two grandchildren, Aaron Robert Hunter, and Nathan Ernest Hunter of Keller, TX.
