Born April 21, 1889 , at Rantoul, she was a daughter of Fremont and Lillie Mary Outlaw Hemphill. Her childhood was spent in Rantoul and she attended the public schools there. She was regarded by her family and friends as a valiant and very devoted mother.
She was married to Christopher J. McGauley on September 27, 1919, at Peoria. He passed away on April 22, 1934, at the Illinois Central Research hospital in Chicago. They made their home in Paxton following their marriage in 1919, until 1961, when Mrs. McGauley moved to Rantoul.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church and the Women's Fellowship Group.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters, Frank E. McGauley, Rantoul; and Paul C. McGauley, a civilian attached with the legal department of the U. S. Army at Frankfort, Germany; Mrs. Samuel E. (Mary) Weidner Jr. of Benton Harbor, Mich.; and Mrs. Adrian R. (Irene) Johnson of Rantoul; 11 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and one sister, Mrs. Lillian L. Draher of Peoria. Preceding her in death, in addition to husband and parents, were three brothers.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at the Ford-Baier funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Hayes officiating. Burial was in Glen cemetery.
