Mt. Vernon---Neomia "Maxine" Upp, 92, Mt. Vernon, died at 3:26 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, in the Lawrence County Manor, Mt. Vernon. She was born May 28, 1915, in Pennsboro to Reuben and Nora Elizabeth (Gibson) Berry.
She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Germany and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Miller. She married Roy Arthur Upp. He died April 28, 1986. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Leo Berry; one sister, Ora Berry; and one half-brother, Howard. Survivors include one son, Lee Gum, Rogersville. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, in Miller Memorial Gardens Cemetery, under direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon.
