Melinda Burgin Denton

Melinda Burgin Denton, 57, of Old Fort, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004. She battled cancer valiantly for five years.
Born in McDowell County to the late Walton Burgin and Oleta Griggs Burgin, she was a nurse at Broughton Hospital.
She was also a member of South Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by one son, Cameron Denton and wife, Lois, of Marion; one daughter, Angeline Dawn Denton of Morganton; two sisters, Frances Randolph and husband, Howard, of Marion and Marlene Wilson and family of Morganton; one son-in-law, Timothy Holloway of Old Fort; five grandchildren, Daniel Denton, Andrew Denton, Hannah Denton, Timothy J. Holloway and Brooke Melinda Holloway; several best friends, Karen Campbell, Don and Debbie Smith.
Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004 at noon in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, with Rev. L.D. "Marty" Connor officiating.
Burial will follow at the Cherry Springs Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
