W. Fred Broughton a life long resident of Mt. Zion died suddenly in his home yesterday. He was 71 years old. An inquest will be conducted by Coroner Harold Brintlinger. He was a retired farmer and he attended the Mt. Zion Presbyterian church and was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge 300 of Mt. Zion.
He was born Sept. 23 1879 and married Emma Cheek in Taylorville Nov.25,1899. He leaves his wife daughters,Mrs. Marie Wallingford,Mrs.Bernice Scranton ,Mrs. Pauline Gray of Decatur,Mrs. Geraldine Cowgill of Mt. Zion,Mrs. Irene Cordonnier of Waukegan,6 grandchildren,one great grandson,brother Clay of Macon survive.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
