Benny Carl Balser, 41, of 2208 Mt. Vernon St., died at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday in the University of Virginia Hospital.
He was born in Rockbridge County on Feb. 19, 1943, a son of Joseph Albert and Mamie Vioa Rowe Balser.
He was a member of Basic United Methodist Church. He was employed as a beamer operator with Wayn-Tex of Waynesboro.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Kay Crawford Balser; one sister, Mrs. Charles R. (Mary Belle) Cline of Waynesboro; four nieces and three nephews.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Donald L. Long. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Bill Bragg, Emil Ritz, Paul brown, Doug Wright, Kenneth Almarode, William Flynn, William Cole and Charles McLear.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Dudley, Jax Bowman, Buddy Coleman, Randolph H. Norman, Earl J. Rowe, Robert L. Patterson, John W. Hailey, Franklin L. Robertson, David J. Rowe and George E. Pforr.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Mrs. Balser's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Crawford, 2220 Mt. Vernon St. and from 7 to 8 tomorrow night at the funeral home.
The family request that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Basic United Methodist Church Chancelor Choir fund.

Additional pallbearers will be Jerry Beard and fellow employees of Wayn-Tex.
