Henry D. Crowe, Sr., 81, of Mechanicsville, passed away, Friday, April 9,1999. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Norma Jean. He is survived by his wife, Mary Tate Crowe; his children, Mary (Weda) K. Galloway of Mechanicsville, Henry D. Crowe, Jr. of Chesterfield, Debra (Pookay) K. and John L. Schneider III of Aylett, Bobby W. and Renita Crowe of Chester; three brothers, Clayton, Harvey and Bruce Crowe; five sisters, Martha Pitts, Louise Gray, Lillian Anthony, Ruby Kelley and Margaret Starrette; 16 grandchildren, John, Erika and Erin Schneider, Thomas, Kendal and Katie DeVoss, Dena, Amber, Taylor and Brandy Crowe, Misty, Max, Melony and Margo Collins, Ashley and Brittany Crowe; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews; also his faithful companion, "Snoopy". He was a World War II veteran, a life long member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of VFW Post 9808, and a retiree with 30 years of service with the American Tobacco Co. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., where the family will receive friends 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted at Hanover Church of the Nazarene at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park.
