Samuel Lusk was a Revolutionary War Veteran (DAR Ancestor #A072464). He fought alongside his father-in law Davis Whiteside (DAR Ancestor #A124521) at King's Mountain, the turning point of the American Revolution. Whiteside was wounded in the battle and died of those wounds later in the day in Hillsborough, NC en route home.

Samuel was the son of Samuel Lusk (1718 - 1771) of Chester, PA and Caroline Agness(?) (last name not verified). Grandparents are William Lusk and Sarah Guinn who are believed to be from Scotland and immigrated to Pennsylvania.

Samuel is believed to have followed his brother John Houston Lusk to what is now Amite/Wilkinson County, MS after John first scouted the area by arriving on flatboat on the Mississippi through Natchez when the area was still Spanish territory.
