Our beloved cowboy, Bryce Hinckley; husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend peacefully reunited with the heavens and those loving him from above on July 12, 2009 at St. Mark's Hospital in East Millcreek, UT surrounded and loved by his entire family at the age of 88.
Grandpa was born November 12, 1920 in Lynndyl, UT, the son of Samuel Lawrence and Nola Greathouse Hinckley.
It was on the tennis courts of Snow College, where he met and fell in love with his best friend and eternal sweetheart Janet Marie Bertelson. They were married on February 1, 1942 in Ephraim, UT and later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. They have been inseparable ever since, a true love story.
Grandpa was a cowboy at heart and from an early age on the farm developed a unique bond with horses. He was a true horseman and we are quite certain Grandpa, Bart, and T-Bar are riding heavens highest peaks. Grandpa always excelled in athletics; he was an all state and collegiate tennis champion at Snow College, all state horse shoe champion, all state wrestler, boxer, and an accomplished softball pitcher. Grandpa was happiest outdoors hunting with Craig and his grandsons.
It always brought a smile to his face to reminisce the good old days and admire his trophy bucks. Grandpa was the ultimate BYU Cougar fan. He was a loyal season ticket holder and never missed a game. You did not want to be a U fan at grandpa's house on game day. Go Cougars!
Grandpa was a loyal employee of Keebler for 42 years, winning several national salesman awards. He was a constant provider and demonstrated unparalleled work ethic, business integrity, and transparent honesty. There was never a shortage of cookies in Grandpa's cookie jar and after retiring in 1984 Nabisco remained banned from family pantries which we still honor today.
Grandpa was an active member of the LDS Church and held many ward clerk callings, but he truly enjoyed coaching the young men and women of his ward for over 10 years. There was nobody tougher or stronger than Grandpa. He had a bone crushing handshake that left a lasting impression. He always drew a crowd while demonstrating how to hammer nails with his bare hands.
Grandpa's favorite things in life were his beautiful wife, horses Bart and T-bar, best hunting buddy Cubby, John Wayne, telling stories, his elaborate gun collection, practical jokes, animated toys, blueberry pie a la mode, and chocolate malts. Beyond the tough exterior Grandpa was a loving and kind man. A gentle giant who's one true love was his family. His greatest thrill was supporting his grandchildren and watching them perform and play ball.
There was never a shortage of dollar bills on game day, distributed for homeruns and just because we were his favorites. He is the world's proudest Grandpa! He was not embarrassed to let everyone know his grandkids were the best. Thank you Grandpa for being our biggest fan. We love you more!

Grandpa was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Nola Hinckley; brothers Dean and John Hinckley; daughter-in-law Teri Hinckley; and great-grandson Mavryk Blu Meine.
A celebration of Grandpa's life will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 12:00 p.m. in the Winder Ward Chapel, 4350 South 1100 East. Friends may call on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Broomhead Funeral Home, 12600 South 2200 West, from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to the services at the Church.
