Mrs. Earl, widow of the late James P. Earl, passed away last night at 7:40 o'clock at the San Antonio infirmary after an operation for appendicities. She was taken to the hospital Saturday and the same night was placed on the operating table. All that medical skill could do was done but without avail.
Five children, three daughters and two sons, are left to mourn. The are Mrs. Will Coffey, Misses Mabel and Katie Earl, and James Earl, of this city, and William Earl, of Cananea, Mex. She is also survived by her father, J. A. Brooks, an old time contractor and builder, and her sister, Mrs. J. F. Kline, both of San Antonio. The latter is visiting in Chicago. The funeral arrangements wait her return, together with the arrival of the son from Mexico.
Mrs. Earl had been a resident of San Antonio for twenty-eight years. Her late husband at one time was cashier of the old Thornton & Wright bank. Later he entered the employ of the City brewery and was bookkeeper for that institution at the time of his death.
Many friends of the family extend their earnest sympathy.
