'Woody' Clark


The funeral service for former butcher and retired Spinks Clay Co. employee Woodard Marshall "Woody" Clark of Paris will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery, northeast of Paris.

Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday.

Clark, 88, died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Henry County Healthcare Center.

His wife, Melva Adeline Tyler Clark, survives. The two were married on March 5, 1946.

Born in Murray on June 30, 1921, he was the son of Herbert Edward Clark and Novella Hart Clark, now both deceased.

Clark was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran. He worked as a butcher at Glen's Market in Paris and retired from Spinks Clay Co. A family member said he was an avid square dancer.

In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons: Danny (Carol) Clark, Gary (Diana) Clark and Ray (Judy) Clark, all of Paris; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by a daughter: Janie Carol Clark; and a sister: Alphine Nored.
