KAMAS, UT- Our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, Warren J. Atkinson, age 82, passed away peacefully Monday, March 17, 2003 in Heber City, Utah.

Born October 5, 1920 in Francis, Utah, the son of Amos W. and Katharine M. Jones Atkinson. Warren grew up and attended school in Kamas. Married Rosemary O'Driscoll August 30, 1941 in Kamas. Marriage later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.

Serving his country was one of the highlights of Warren's life. He joined the U.S. Air Force during World War II and fought in the European Theatre. When he returned he found his niche in life in the lumber industry. Working with wood, both for work and as a hobby, was his favorite pastime. A general handyman, he could repair anything from a broken pair of scissors to rebuilding an engine. He had a genuine love of animals, with a soft spot for cats. When he could he loved to get out in the snow on a fast snowmobile, and he especially enjoyed the time spent with his family and grand- children.

He is survived by his son Jesse (Diane); three granddaughters: Shelly (Brad) Bess, Cindy (David) Butterfield, Jill (Derek) Beer; six great-grand-children: Braun, Jessica, Kassidee, Brady, Savannah, Kaylin; brother, Rulon; two sisters: Doris Atkinson, Norma (Theron) Atkinson; and two sisters-in-law: Eva and Edna Atkinson. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Rosemary; two sisters, Beth and Elaine; three brothers, Glen, Alfred and Ivan.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 21, 2003 - 12 Noon in the Kamas LDS 2nd Ward Church, 100 West Center Street, Kamas, Utah. Friends may call on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services, both at the LDS Church. Interment will be in the Francis Cemetery. Arrangements in the care of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, Heber City.
