From the Adams Review:
J. H. Kottner. Age 34 years, died at the Swedish hospital in Minneapolis Monday morning, March 1, after being confined to his bed for four days with a severe attack of appendicitis. He had been failing in health for some time but not enough to keep him from his work until last Thursday morning. He was removed to the hospital as an operation was necessary and the best of care. Shortly after the operation was performed he passed away without much pain.
The remains were brought to his parents' home in Stacyville, Iowa, Monday afternoon, the funeral taking place from the home at 9:30 Wednesday morning, interment in St. Mary's Catholic church cemetery.
Mr. Kottner was well known by a great many in our vicinity, having married one of our young ladies, Miss Nora Rooney, seven years ago. For the past five years they resided in Minneapolis, most of this time he conducted a business of his own.
