Georgana "Georgia" Meeks Powelson, 84, died Monday, July 3, 1995 at the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell, Wyoming. She was born December 20, 1910 in Great Falls, Montana. She was raised in Cowley, Wyoming and graduated from Cowley High School.
She married Bertrand Alexander Powelson January 28, 1931 in Byron, Wyoming. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, April 1937. Bert died December 4, 1980.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings: Stake and Ward Young Women's President, and Junior Sunday School Coordinator and touched the lives of many young people in Lovell. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and was considered and excellent cook and homemaker.
For seventeen years she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Scott M. Welch, Sr. in Lovell.
After Bert's untimely death, she moved to Provo, Utah to be close to family members and later lived 3 years in Boise, Idaho.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons in law, Pauline and Larry Stevens of Scottsdale, Arizona, Kae and Jim Crittenden of Lehi, Utah, and Carolyn and Robert Lasson of Eagle, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bert, her father and mother Louis A. and Anne Meeks, a brother Paul, and a sister Helena.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 6, 1995 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lovell L.D.S. Stake Center with Bishop Edward Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Lovell Cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell is in charge of arrangements.
