Mrs. Beard was born April 26, 1930 in Lamont, Florida. She was a retired School Bus Driver for Broward County and Dade County in Florida. She was a member of First Baptist Church Moores Lane and a Born Again Christian. She was also, a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Past President of the Liberty Eylau Band Booster Club and past member of the Bowie County Democratic Women. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Thelma Hendrix and two brothers, Simeon Beaty and John Beaty.
She is survived by her husband of fifty five years; Walter Beard of Texarkana, Texas; one daughter: Elizabeth Shumate of Live Oak, Florida; two brothers: James Beaty of Live Oak, Florida and Raymond Beaty of Clermont, Florida; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday at Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Beard officiating. Burial will be in Eylau Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P. M.
