Selescus Degator "Leck" Mayes, 67, died Tuesday, May 22, 1984 in Billings Deaconess Hospital after a long illness. He was born August 13, 1916 in Goin, Claiborne County, Tennessee, the son of Eli and Ella Mayes. He married Neva Marie Hoover December 24, 1938 in Jamestown, Tennessee. He worked for Lovell Clay Products in Lovell and farmed until his retirement. He was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1937 and had been very active in church affairs until his illness.

Survivors include his wife Neva Marie of Lovell; two sons, Doyle S. of Riverton, WY and Daniel L. of the family home; three daughters, Parthena Thompson of Lovell, WY, Selena Garber of Fredonia, AZ, and Neva Lee Cox of Casper, WY; four brothers, James Estel, Denver, and Deloy all of Lovell, WY and Onder of Butte, MT; five sisters, Virgie Collins of Lovell, WY; Birtie England and Ruthie Cox both of Tazewell, TN, Retha Simmons of Rutherfordtown, TN, and Girtha Graves of Lovell, WY; 10 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild.

Funeral Services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Cowley L.D.S. Chapel with Bishop Larry Sessions officiating. Burial will be in the Lovell Cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell is in charge of arrangements. Donations may be made to the American Heart Fund in his name.
