Delos was in the Union Army-GAR: "Delos enlisted in the Civil War on December 22, 1863, at the age of 32, as a private in the 111 N.Y. Infantry, Company I. He was wounded on May 6, 1864 at Wilderness, VA and transferred on June 4, 1865 to Company G, 4th Light Artillery Regiment New York. On June 5, 1865, he again enlisted as a private in Company Battery G, 4th Heavy Artillery Regiment New York. He received a disability discharge from this same battery on September 10, 1865 in Fort Richmond, New York Harbor."

Delos was first married to Helen Matthews in 1855. After her death in 1886, he married Charlotte S. Fenno Walker in 1888.

West Lodi Cemetery is on Lodi Station Road. His grave is on the north side of the cemetery under three big pine trees that have since been cut down. The trunks of the trees remain.
