Edgar grew up during the depression. He attended 66th Street Elementary School, John Muir Jr. High and graduated from John C. Fremont High School in June 1939. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Marie Friend, on the 14th of December 1940 at the First Baptist Church in North Hollywood, California. They became the parents of three children.
On the 27th of June 1942 Edgar enlisted as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corp. He served in the army of occupation of Japan and was discharged in July 1946.
After the war the family settled in Anaheim, California where their three children were raised. Edgar was a printer and involved as President, Secretary/Treasurer and Chief Steward of the Printing Specialities and Products Local 522 for eleven years.
After he retired Edgar and Helen relocated to Nevada where both of his sons were living. He became involved with Capital Baptist Church and spent many years helping in the construction of new Southern Baptist Churches in the area. Edgar loved to travel on his motorcycle and said he had "been everyplace twice." He was serving as the treasurer of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Carson City Chapter, when he died.
Edgar passed away on the 11th of May 1995 in Carson City, Nevada. Helen passed away on the 18th of August 2001 also in Carson City, Nevada. They had been married for fifty-four years.
