Clay Hilton Johnson, 72, died Tuesday in the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell after an illness of five weeks. He was born June 28, 1906 in Lovell, Wyoming., the son of Seth and Metta Schow Johnson. He had lived his whole life in the Big Horn Basin. He worked as a dragline operator before his retirement. He married Madeline Lablen in Denver, Colorado. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nikki Harvey of Cowley, WY; three brothers, Darr of Lovell, WY, Jess of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Ira Johnson of Brigham City, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. Savanna Sessions of Byron, WY and Mrs. Zela Farmer of Deaver, WY; and two grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, January 12, 1979 at 2:00 p.m. in the Haskell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Lovell Cemetery.
