Alonzo Mayfield, former Deputy Sheriff, who was
killed January 24, 1926, in a gun battle between
Floyd County police officers and bank bandits,
passed away 12:35 o'clock Saturday afternoon in her home, 812 Cherry Street, following a week of
sickness. She is survived by two sons. Orville
Edward Mayfield and Roscoe Phillip Mayfield, both
of New Albany; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Heinze,
Lanesville, and Mrs. Nellie Goodman, Fowler; three brothers, William Brock, Fowler; Frank Brock, Elizabeth, and Lafie Brock, Georgetown, and 15 grandchildren. She was a member of the Antioch Christian Church. The body is at the residence.
