Alva Fred Crabtree, 77, of the Sandy Ridge section of Rt 2, Cleveland, Virginia, died Tuesday night in a Lebanon, Virginia Hospital following a long illness. A lifelong member of Sandy Ridge, he was a son of the late George M and Lydia Musick Crabtree. He was a retired sawmiller and was a member of the Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church at Sandy Ridge. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mona Lee Crabtree, and one son and one daughter.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Annie Bea Musick, Mrs Irene Musick and Mrs Darlene Ball, all of Cleveland; four sons, Alva Crabtree of Petersburg, Virginia, Asa Crabtree of Council, Virginia, Carson Crabtree and A F Crabtree, both of Cleveland; one sister, Mrs Ada Couch of Kingsport, Tennessee; one brother, Grover Crabtree of Lebanon, Virginia, and 22 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p m at Crabtree Chapel Baptist Church with Rev R T Newton and Rev John Massie officiating. Burial will follow in Crabtree Family Cemetery near the home. Friends may call at Honaker Funeral Home in Honaker, Virginia and at the church on hour prior to the service.
