Ira D. Askey
TROUTVILLE - Ira D. Askey, a retired miner and resident here for the past 10 years, died at 3 p.m. Sunday in maple Avenue Hospital, DuBois. He was 80.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Ober Funeral Home, Reynoldsville, with Rev. Albert S. Womer officiating. Burial will be in West Liberty Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight.
Mr. Askey was born July 10, 1884 on DuBois RD 1, son of Monroe and Jane Knarr Askey. He married Myrtle Shaffer in 1906. She died in 1934. Mr. Askey was a member of the UMW.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Alberta Snyder, Reynoldsville RD 3; Mrs. Luella Carr, Brockway; Mrs Virginia Raines, Brunswick, Me.; and Mrs. Dorene Nagele, Kingston, N.Y.; four sons, Ira Jr., Luthersburg RD 1; Thomas, Brockport; Jack, Horsehead, N.Y.; and Joseph, Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Venne Heberling, DuBois RD 1; Mrs. Eva Dunlap, Lakeworth, Fla.; and Mrs. Ethel Fullerton, Akron, O.; two brothers, Clyde, DuBois RD 1; and Edward, Howard, Pa.; 29 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
