The daughter of Charles McDowell & Elizabeth H. Crain, she married Samuel Anthony Scott on January 19, 1858 in Spalding County, Georgia and they had seven children together: William H. (b-1859); Ida Josephine (b-1861 m-Crowder); Alice Elizabeth (b-1865 m-Wright); Mary F. (b-1867); Eva (b-1869); Emma V. (b-1874); and Annie (b-1877).
Obituary:
"Mrs. M. Z. Scott, aged 72 years, died Saturday afternoon at her home in Maysville, Ga. The body will be brought to Atlanta at 11 o'clock today, and the funeral will be held at Sylvester church. She is survived by five daughters--Mrs. Logan Thomas, of Dawson, Ga.; Mrs. Coster Wright, of Galveston, Texas; Mrs. T. M. Garrison, of Maysville; Mrs. W. B. Crowder, of Griffin; and Mrs. S. B. Richardson, of New Orleans. Mrs. Scott was the widow of the late Captain Samuel Scott, of Atlanta."
