Elva Ann Elizabeth Tarkington died on November 13,1964 in a Fort Smith, Arkansas hospital after a long illness. She was born on September 12, 1882 in Hood County, Texas. She was the widow of Andrew Benton Tarkington and the daughter of Benjamin Washington and Nancy Maria Camp. She was a Baptist.

She was survived by three sons: Ivan C. Tarkington and L.E. Tarkington of Kerens, Texas; and Tom B. Tarkington of Irving, Texas; five daughters: Mrs. Eugene Crutchfield and Miss Hazel Tarkington of Fort Smith, AR; Mrs. Preston Ferguson of Kerens, Texas; Mrs. Perston Hopkins of Fort Worth, Texas and Mrs. Stephen Vernon of Texas City, Texas; 25 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Arrangements were trusted to the care of Paschal Funeral Home of Kerens, Texas
