Gloria Kay Narveson, 69, of Clearbrook, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at Neilson Place in Bemidji.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the First Baptist Church in Clearbrook with the Rev. Verlyn Strenge officiating. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, with a family service at 7 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Clearbrook.

The pallbearers will be Andrew Narveson, Joshua Tollefson, Alex Narveson, Zachery Tollefson, David Thompson and Simon Mahlberg.

Honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth Tollefson, Jessica Mahlberg, Nicholas Narveson, Augustus Farnworth, Halie Thompson, Phillip Wolfgram, Andy Narveson, Kelly Narveson and Michele Narveson.

She was born Feb. 23, 1940, to Henry and Winifred (Hinman) Taflin, in Clearbrook. She grew up on the family farm near Gonvick and graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1958. She married Harold John Narveson on Aug. 30, 1958, in Cavalier, N.D. They soon moved back to their hometown and built their house on Main Street.

She was employed as a dietary supervisor at the Good Samaritan Center in Clearbrook for 32 years. She also painted more than 200 local buildings, from houses to country churches. She enjoyed auction sales, picking berries, writing poetry, following sports, gardening, mowing lawns and spending time with her family.

Her husband, Harold, died in 1990. Several years later she opened Gloria's Collectibles and Antique Shop, in Clearbrook, which she ran for several years.

She is survived by her three daughters, Susan Narveson of Clearbrook, Kathleen Tollefson of Clearbrook and daughter, Lori (David) Thompson of Trail, Minn.; son, Thomas Narveson of Clearbrook; nine grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her brother, Robert Taflin.
