Howard Spesert, age 82, of Coweta passed from this life on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at his home. He was born on June 19, 1926 in Chico, CA to Willis and Jecca (Pearl) Spesert.
Howard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He received his education in the Chico, CA school system. Howard enlisted in the United States Armed Forces on August 31, 1944 and was honorably discharged on August 15, 1946. He worked as a bus driver for A.C. Transit in Richmond, CA for 20 years until his retirement in 1975. He later did lawn mower repair. Howard came to Coweta in 1977 from Richmond, CA. He and Ludie Slavens were united in marriage in 1956 in Reno, NV. His hobbies included trout fishing, hunting, tinkering with small engines, traveling, and camping. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, three brothers, five sisters, and one great granddaughter. Howard is lovingly survived by his daughter, Pamela Spesert of Broken Arrow, OK; his two step-daughters, Kathy Moreland and Sharon Tennison, both of Coweta, OK; 14 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, OK with Rev. Joe Cecil Kelley officiating. Interment will follow. The family of Howard Spesert entrusted his care and services to Wright Funeral Home, 210 S. Broadway, Coweta, OK 74429 (918) 486-5515.
