The son of Swen Peter Anderson and Sissa Nilsson, was born in Bellebarga, Skanne, Sweden. He made his living by farming.

On November 3, 1886, he married Martha Ann Graham in the Logan Temple. Martha was born November 3, 1865, in Millville, the daughter of Robert and Mary Ellen Read Graham.

After their marriage they lived in the "Relief Society House," located at what is now 45 East 100 South, until they built a small log home of their own at Third South and Second East.

Martha was active in Primary and YWMIA, and she served as a counselor in the Relief Society for twelve years.

Andrew would often take his horse and buggy and drive his wife and other Relief Society sisters around town to gather wheat or other grain for the Relief Society to store.

Although Martha was not a trained nurse, Doctor Budge would call her for special cases in the valley. She also sewed for, and took care of, the dead. Martha died July 9, 1915.

Andrew and Martha were parents of seven children: Wesley A. (Mary Standley), Vanda Satira (William C. Checketts), Gretta, ( died in infancy), Noble Dean (Sharletia Bowen), Lyman Dart (Loretta Qualman), Ardith lone, (Oscar F. Freeman), Rulon Clyde (Florence Camper).
