Ash, Jacob L. Dr. born in Schoharie Co.m N.Y. Aug. 7, 1832. His early education was received in the city of Detroit, where he attended the high school, after which he began the study of medicine with Prof. Lobdell, of New York City, with whom he remained a year and a half, when he spent a year with Dr. Kelly of the same city. He then returned to Detroit, and entered the Eclectic College from which he graduated at the age of twenty two, since when, to the date of his coming to Oceana County in 1890, his time has been spent in active practice, at first in various points in Can ada until 1864, when he returned to Michigan locating first in Huron Twp. and continuing his practice: then in Monroe and Van Buren counties, Michigan; from there to Lafayette, Indiana; and then to Elkart of that State where he was for a while examining physician for the Mutual Life Ins. Co.; and from there to Grand Rapids. The doctor came from Kent county to Walkerville, where he has since been engaged. He was one who suffered by the Walkerville fire. He and his family are pleasantly located in that village, where he now enjoys a most satisfactory practice.
