Elizabeth Denton Malloy peacefully passed away on July 10, 2009 at Cartmell Home for Aged in Palestine, TX. She was a longtime resident of Palestine. She was born October 13, 1923 in Daisetta, Texas, the daughter of Sydney Farris and Tif Denton. She was raised in the country where she rode horses even before she could walk. She spent her first 18 years in Daisetta where she graduated from high school. During that time she enjoyed playing the piano and was a member of the band. She attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville studying music where she played the piccolo in the band, played piano, and was a member of the Melody Maids. She married David Coit Malloy, Jr. in Palestine on July 22, 1943 who was on leave from the U.S. Army. Upon his deployment to Europe, she was employed by the U.S. Navy Sonar Department in LaJolla, Calif. She returned to Palestine in 1945 with her husband and first son David. She was very active in the public school system and was president of the PTA. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school class for many years and was a member of UMW, Weslayan Ester Group, the Victor class, and the Grace bible class. She was a member of DAR, Eastern Star and the Garden Club. She also worked approximately 30 years for numerous local doctors as a receptionist and bookkeeper.She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a brother, husband and a son, Gene. She is survived by her sons, David Malloy and close friend Lyndia Perkins, and Richard Malloy; sister, Mary Joe Smith; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.Services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Hay officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. Visitation will be Monday, July 13, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, PalestinePallbearers will be Mike Malloy, Chris Malloy, Kevin Malloy and Joe Gonzales.If desired memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 422 S.
