Last Rites Held Sunday, June 8, For R.H. Graves
Funeral services for Robert H. Graves, 69, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8, in the Church of God in Childress. Mr. Graves died Friday, June 6, in the home of his daughter, Miss Anna Mae Graves, in Memphis.
Services were conducted by the Rev. R.D. King of Memphis. Assisting was the Rev. C.H. Barnett of Childress. Burial was in Tell Cemetery. Murphy-Spicer Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Survivors Listed
Survivors include three sons Chesley Graves of Sunray, Lee Graves of Sunray, Colvin Graves of San Antonio; three daughters, Miss Anna Mae Graves of Memphis, Mrs. Frank Moore of Sunray, Mrs. J.W. Birdsong of Sunray; one brother, Jim Graves of Peacock, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Addie Lanier of Odessa; and 12 grandchildren.
Mr. Graves was a retired farmer and had lived in Memphis for about a year, moving here with his daughter from Childress County. His wife preceded him in death April 2, 1932.
Born in Tennessee
Born Sept. 21, 1882, in Pulaski County, Tenn., Mr. Graves was the son of Sanders Graves and Ann Kimbrough Graves. He moved with his family to Red River County in 1900. He was united in marriage in 1906, to Miss Leversia Alexander of Clarkesville, Tex. They had lived some 22 years in Childress County.
Pall bearers were: George McMinn, Cecil McMinn, Buster Holford, Lawson Holford, H.L. Kitchens and O.E. Phillips.
Flower bearers were: Sylvia King, Syble King, Sue Davis, Betty Davis, Hazel Davis, Bessie Lou Tyler, June Johnson and Donna Kitchens.
