Daughter of James Henry Walker and Mary Jane Wray/Rea, she married Wesley Monroe Long. They became parents of 12 children.

Obituary

Mrs. Martha Long, aged 70, wife of the late W. M. Long, former chairman of the board of Mecklenburg county commissioners, died yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at her home following a period of declining health.
Funeral services will be held this morning at 11:00 o'clock at Ebenezer A. R. P. church, of which Mrs. Long was a member, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. R. White. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be A. W. Alexander, M. A. Huntley, J. Hugh Griffin, Will Grier, Edward Henry and Charles P. Griffin.
Mrs. Long had been a resident of this county for the last 53 years. Surviving are five sons, Lewis, Fred, Hatcher and Willard Long, all of Charlotte and Bainie Long of Forest City; a daughter, Mrs. C. Shuman of Charlotte; and two sisters, Mrs. S. F. Long of Charlotte and Mrs. William McLaughlin of Newell.
