He graduated from the Edge Hill Institute, Littlestown, PA in 1897 and the University of Maryland Dental School in 1900. He began his dental practice in Gettysburg, PA. He married Mae Kump on April 15, 1903. About 1909 he contracted tuberculosis and went to a sanitarium in New York. By the fall of 1910 he had recovered sufficiently to work on the staff of the sanitarium and to have a private practice in Liberty, NY. He died in Liberty, NY. They had two sons: Richard and Fred.
